MOJJERE’s Creative Approach

At MOJJERE, each collection is born from a dialogue between tradition and contemporary creation. Our artistic vision draws from the stories and gestures that shape the aesthetics of the African continent, while embracing modern forms of visual expression.

We are committed to collaborating with African artists whose vision resonates with our pursuit of meaning, beauty, and cultural rootedness. It is in this spirit that we initiated a collaboration with Rufai Ismaila, a Nigerian photographer and filmmaker whose work explores Afro-descendant identities through a poetic and symbolic lens.

For the WURO collection, inspired by the sun masks of the Bwa people of Burkina Faso, Rufai Ismaila has created a series of dreamlike images centered on the narrative of the mask and the light. His creations do not simply document the object—they extend its myth. Through powerful staging and a poetic reading of ceremonial gestures, he brings a narrative force to MOJJERE’s tableware that transcends functionality.

This collaboration reflects our desire to make each collection a space for artistic expression and cultural dialogue. Because at MOJJERE, art de vivre is also the art of storytelling.
